Geotechnical Investigations
CBR & Root Analysis
In-situ CBR (Californian Bearing Ratio) testing is carried out to provide soil strengths for the design of roads, car parks and piling mats. This can be achieved using either vehicle mounted apparatus or a hand held mexiprobe.
Root samples within cohesive soils can be identified at an independent laboratory, on sites where trees are suspected of causing subsidence. Further evidence can be obtained by DNA analysis. Shire can arrange these tests and advise on the results and how they affect the structure in question.
