The Project
The £20M redevelopment at Yarm School which was completed in 2012 included demolition of an existing classroom block and dining room, refurbishment of the existing hall to form a new dining room, refurbishment of an old classroom building to form a sixth form centre, a new kitchen, a new mezzanine first floor for classrooms, a new £2M nursery building and a riverside performing arts centre which includes a 750 seat auditorium, a separate galleried 120 capacity teaching theatre, a dance studio and music performance suite. There is also a separate Teaching Block incorporating new departments for English and Modern Languages as well as new changing rooms and a specialist teaching facility for sports studies.
The Project has won the North East RIBA Regional Award.
