The house needed to be adapted to accommodate a downstairs bedroom. The side of the property was selected & several challenges were noted. Firstly, the whole area needed to be maximised & the neighbours foundations could not be undermined. A shallow gas pipe was noted along with shallow drains. The finished floor level would be a challenge due to the comparison between internal floor level & external floor level.
The Solution
A 30.1m2 QuickBase was installed in 4 days, with 21 piles down to a depth of 3m each. The
foundations were designed to avoid the need to divert the gas pipe & drains. Shire also
designed a bespoke steel beam for a supporting wall, free of charge for the client.
