The ground floor of a housing association property in Hampshire had dropped by around two inches due to ground movement. Shire was contacted by the housing association to find a suitable solution to repair the issue before any significant damage was caused to the property.
The Challenge
Rebuilding of the concrete slab would be high-cost and disruptive. It would mean the tenants would need to vacate the property for a number of days while the repair work was completed. Therefore, it was necessary to find a less disruptive and more cost-effective solution.
The Solution
Shire’s Resin Injection Subsidence Treatment provides an excavation-free method of foundation improvement that is the perfect alternative to underpinning or rebuilding and provides numerous advantages that other repair methods cannot.
The resin injection process involves drilling holes at precise, pre-designated locations around the slab and injecting resin into them to lift the slab back to its original position. This process also strengthens the ground underneath to reduce the risk of future movement.
In this instance, Shire’s resin injection solution was used to fill the voids beneath the concrete floor slab to raise it two inches back into position.
Due to the speed in which Shire’s Resin Injection Subsidence Treatment can be deployed, and it’s non-disruptive nature, the floor was re-leveled in less than a day and did not require the tenant to vacate the property.
The tenant was delighted with the result and the minimal disruption the process caused, and a saving of over £14,000 was made by the housing association.
